This site is a collection of online resources for research in the field of information retrieval and information extraction from the Web.
These pages contain materials that are related to the state of the art IR and IE techniques used for and on the Web. Such techniques use, as well as traditional techniques, hypertext structure and meta-data, the structure and nature of the Web, observed human behaviour on the Web, other search engines, and more.
I would appreciate any
comments, suggestions, additions and links you might have. A Hotmail login only takes a moment and the feedback via email would be useful. We are also planning an email newsletter. If interested in receiving updates, login to Gmail and send me a short line expressing your interest to be added to the email list. I hope this site
helps create an awareness of the special and different nature of Web IR &
IE. Such an awareness might also help in defining the differences and similarities
between the Web and other non-hypertext texts.
Many people have found IR helpful and project partners often remark on how working with these resources has made it easier to find that on important single point of reference.
